It is hard to believe that Netsparker is ten years old, this month! Back in 2009, Ferruh Mavituna, then a visionary web security researcher, launched into the web application security marketplace with our revolutionary web vulnerability scanner. Since then, we’ve helped hundreds of SMEs and enterprises prevent dangerous security breaches without compromising their resources, saving them thousands of hours in the process. Our dead accurate Proof-Based ScanningTM means security professionals can avoid tedious manual verification and depend on our findings. Announced as Vulnerability Management Solution Provider of the Year by CyberSecurity Breakthrough in 2017, and honoured with a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category, Netsparker has been firmly established as a market leader.
The last ten years have witnessed many surprising developments, and not just for Netsparker. Web giants such as Google, Facebook and others have been attacked for monopolising the scene, accused of mishandling their masses of user data and questioned about data security. Crypotojacking has followed hot on the heels of the cryptocurrency innovations. Users have grown more informed and inquisitive about the security of the cloud applications we all use. In the UK, the government’s GDPR regulations have attempted to catch up, prompting web technology vendors to carefully consider and justify their collection, uses, access and sharing of data. And, yet shocking data leaks and prevailing vulnerabilities such as SQL Injections continue to keep our Security Researchers busy.
Let’s take a look at developments in the web security industry over the last ten years, and consider what lies ahead for Netsparker and our customers. We’ve made a few predictions about AI and the persistence of vulnerabilities.
